Qudhaibiyah - Shura Council
His Excellency Mr. Ali Saleh Al-Saleh, Shura Council Speaker praised the achievements of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in the field of electronic government and the qualitative excellence demonstrated by Bahraini personnel working in this field, leading the Kingdom to occupy an advanced position in the field of information technology and electronic government both regionally and internationally. He valued the efforts of His Excellency Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information & Communications Technology (ICT) for his kind patronage of the electronic government activities and its efforts aimed at the electronic development of all the Kingdom’s institutions. His Excellency the Shura Council Speaker valued the services offered to the citizens by the electronic government, pointing out that these services have helped to streamline and facilitate the procedures and transactions, and proved that the Kingdom has moved into the class of advanced nations in the field of information technology and the utilization thereof to serve the life of citizens. His Excellency noted that this achievement reflects the Kingdom’s upkeep with the technological and technical developments witnessed by the world, especially since the Bahraini people are known for their continuous efforts to increase their resources of knowledge and technical expertise.
On the occasion of the Shura Council website winning the Electronic Content Award during The Bahrain International Forum for Electronic Government 2010 held under the patronage of His Excellency Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information & Communications Technology, His Excellency the Shura Council Speaker, indicated that, the Shura Council has, through its work over the past four years, contributed towards supporting the global trend to spread technical awareness and technological culture, reiterating the necessity of continuing this approach and spreading it even to the extent of its inclusion into school syllabuses, since familiarity with the requirements of the technical and technological advancement age necessitates the preparation of the emerging generations to deal with these new means and to provide them with the necessary knowledge to keep abreast with the progress movement related thereto.
The Shura Council Speaker valued the efforts of the esteemed government in this field, which he believed would be among the most important essentials for the citizens in the year 2030, helping the Kingdom to achieve the objectives of the economic outlook relying on high quality human and developmental resource. His Excellency also valued the efforts of Information Technology Directorate’s personnel in conjunction with other directorates, to enable the Council website to keep abreast with latest developments and to provide it with state of the art technologies and services to raise its technical standard. He expressed the Council’s pride of the national competencies and their role in supporting the path of parliamentary work in Bahrain.
On his part His Excellency Mr. Abdul Jaleel Ebrahim Al-Toraif, Secretary General of the Shura Council expressed thanks and appreciation to His Excellency Mr. Ali Saleh Al-Saleh, Shura Council Speaker, for his support and follow-up of the Council’s website, pointing out that His Excellency’s encouragement of the path of development and modernization of the General Secretariat of the Council has had the greatest effect in achieving this high standard of expertise and skills reached by the personnel of Information Technology Division, and their sense of responsibility that enabled the website to win several local, Arab and regional awards.
His Excellency the Secretary General expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the ITD to reach this level of achievement, wishing success and prosperity for all the personnel of the GS to offer the best services to the Council.
Within the same framework, the General Secretariat of the Shura Council is participating over the three day duration of Bahrain Forum for Electronic Government 2010, with a special stand aimed at introducing visitors to the Exhibition to the most important information technology services adopted at the Shura Council General Secretariat, in addition to detailed review of the services provided by the Councils website.
It is worth mentioning that the Shura Council has, over the past period, won a number of awards for the website content, the last of which was the Arab Golden Chip Award won by the Council Website from the Judgment Panel of the Arab Organization For Informatics & Communications as the best Arab project for Electronic Content.
