Shura Council: Bahraini women diplomats have demonstrated patriotic commitment for success

Bahraini women have demonstrated remarkable patriotic commitment and made pioneering contributions to strengthening diplomacy in the Kingdom thanks to the steady support and constant attention from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and his keenness on their progress, the Shura Council has said.

In a statement ahead of Bahraini Women's Day, celebrated this year under the theme "Bahraini Women in the Field of Diplomatic Work", the Council expressed pride in the government's keenness to include projects that contribute to the advancement of women in its action plan.

The Council also lauded the affirmation by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to boost the progress of Bahraini women and to include their advancement within the priorities of government action.

The unlimited support accorded by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, are robust pillars of the remarkable successes and national achievements accomplished by Bahraini women, the upper chamber of the bicameral parliament added.

The Council affirmed that the celebration of Bahraini women whose diplomatic accomplishments marks an outstanding milestone in the progress of Bahraini women and in the national action where they have put forth distinguished efforts for decades.

The statistics and data related to Bahraini women in diplomacy mirror their determination to consolidate their role as diplomats through representing Bahrain in other countries, heading diplomatic missions or asserting their presence in Bahraini embassies and consulates, as well as assuming leadership positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Council said.

The prosperous era of HM the King has witnessed an increase in the interest in elevating the status of women diplomats that led to a Bahraini becoming the first woman in the Arab world to become the undersecretary of a ministry of foreign affairs, the statement said.

As Bahrain celebrates the national occasion dedicated to Bahraini women, the Council affirmed its strong support for all legislation that ensure the continued advancement of Bahraini women, enhance their rights, and place them in continuous leadership positions and permanent distinctions.
