Meeting No (07), December 09, 2013 – Fourth Convening Period – Third Legislative Term
The Shura Council held its meeting this morning under the Chairmanship of HE Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh.
The Shura ratified the minutes of the previous meeting, before reciting a statement on the occasion of His Majesty's accession to the throne and the national day of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Council extended good wishes to His Majesty, HRH the Prime Minister and HRH the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and 1st Deputy Premier and to the people of Bahrain on the occasion.
Shura Council also recited another statement on the occasion of International Declaration for Human Rights, expressing the human rights in Bahrain are protected under the rule of His Majesty.
Shura Council recited another statement on the occasion of International Day for Combating Corruption, calling on harmonizing efforts to eradicate the sources of corruption and achieve justice and fairness for all.
The Council then discussed and approved the report of the Finance and Economic Affairs Committee concerning a draft law approving the Brands (system) law for the GCC countries, associated with the royal decree no. (52) for 2013.
The Council also approved the report of the Public Utilities and Environment Committee approving the regulations for the emergency management of the GCC.
After that, the Shura approved the report of the Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security Committee regarding a draft law for 2013, ratification of the Protocol concerning amending the convention between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Brunei related to the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on Income, associated with the royal decree no. (54) for 2013.
The Council discussed and approved the report of the Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security Committee regarding a draft law concerning ratification of an agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Government of Canada related to the exchange of information about tax issues, associated with the royal decree no. (63) for 2013.
Finally, the Council discussed the report of the Finance and Economic Affairs Committee concerning the decision of the Council of Representatives relating to the Shura Council decision on a draft law organization of bonuses for government representatives in the administration councils of organizations and institutions, companies and committees (prepared in light of the draft law submitted by the Council of Representatives), agreeing to adhere to the Shura Council's last decision.
