Meeting No (12), January 27, 2014 – Fourth Convening Period – Third Legislative Term
The Shura Council held its weekly meeting today, under the chairmanship of HE Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh.
The Council approved the minutes of the previous session, before reciting a statement on the occasion of Arab Woman Day, in which the Shura extended good wishes to all Arab woman on their day, recalling the achievements attained by Arab woman – in general – in various fields and the Bahrain woman in particular.
The Council was notified on the incoming letters from the Chairman of the Council of Representatives and the referral of the draft law amending some provisions of the marine law to the Public Utilities and Environment Committee, and another 3 draft laws that were referred to the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee.
Then, the Council reviewed the letter submitted by Hon. members; Rabab A.Nabi Al-Orayed and Dalal Jassim Al-Zayed, on adhering to submit a bill proposal amending some provisions of the decree by law no. 46 of 2002, issuance the Criminal Procedure Law, and agreed to refer it to the Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security Committee.
The Council reviewed, discussed and approved some articles of the report of the Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security Committee regarding a draft law to issue traffic law, associated with the Royal Decree no. (20) for 2008, and a draft law amending Traffic Law issued by decree by law no. (9) of 1979 (the addition of a new item (41 bis)), (prepared in light of the bill proposal submitted by the Council of Representatives), and a draft law on the prohibition of stopping trucks in neighborhoods and residential areas.
Finally, the Council reviewed the report of the Shura Council delegation concerning participation in the consultative meeting of the Association of Senates and Shura and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab world (ASSECAA), held in Bujumbura - the Republic of Burundi, during the period from 29 to 30 November, 2013.
