Council's Office Statement - 3 December 2012

The Chairman of the Shura Council H.E. Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, chaired Council's Bureau meeting this morning, in presence of First Deputy Chairman Jamal Fakhro, Second Deputy Chairman Dr. Bahiya Al-Jishi, heads of Standing Committees, the Secretary General, and the Legal Adviser of the Council.

The Bureau reviewed the nominations for Human Rights Committee, stressing in this regard the keenness of the members of the Shura Council to protect and safeguard human rights in Bahrain.

In this aspect, the Bureau praised the initiative submitted by members of the Shura Council, in order to form committees that scrutinize laws and legislations to boost and advance Bahrain's stance internationally.

Then the Bureau reviewed statistical statements regarding draft laws that are still under study by the Council committees, and those to be included on the agendas of the forthcoming meetings of the Council.

The Bureau included in the agenda of the next session two reports of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee concerning amending some provisions of the civil and commercial procedural law and draft law regarding notary public.

Also the Bureau agreed to include the report of the Services Committee concerning a draft law establishment of saving system for Bahrainis working in the private sector, in addition to the report of the Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security Committee issuing reform and rehabilitation institution law and the draft law organization of penitentiary institutions.
