The Chairman of Shura Council H.E. Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh chaired this morning (Monday) the meeting of the Council's Bureau, in the presence of Second Deputy Chairman hon. Dr. Bahiya Jawad Al Jishi, hon. Heads of Standing Committees, and hon. Secretary General, and the Legal Advisors of the Council.
During the meeting, the Bureau discussed a letter the Chairman of the Council for Representatives and Head of the Executive Committee of the inter-parliamentary division H.E. Mr. Khalifa Ahmed Al-Dhahrani, attached with a copy of the decisions of the Inter-Parliamentary Union on human rights. In this regard the bureau stressed that the record of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of human rights is in line with international standards.
The members of the Bureau stressed that the legislative authority in the Kingdom take upon themselves to protect human rights through the enactment of legislation to protect and safeguard the freedoms and rights.
The Bureau reviewed also, a message from the Secretary-General of the Arab Parliamentary Union H.E. Noureddine Bouchkouj, attached with a report of the Secretariat of the Arab Parliamentary Union concerning the outcomes and the results of the meetings of Assembly 127, and session 191 of the Governing Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (Quebec - Canada) October 21 to 26, 2012, where the Bureau praised the role of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, noting at the same time the efforts of the members of the delegation.
Then the Bureau was briefed on what is stated in the message of the president of the Association of Private Hospitals Dr. Abdul Wahab Mohammed Abdul Wahab concerning reconsideration of some articles in chapter 5 of the labour law in the private sector, and views and proposals aimed at strengthening the legislation in force in the Kingdom.
Then the Bureau of the Council reviewed the items on its agenda, and took the appropriate decisions, then acknowledged the Council's next meeting agenda, which includes the report of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee concerning a decree by law no. (39) for 2012 amending some provisions of law no. (15 ) related to Shura and Representatives Councils, and the report of the Services Committee concerning the decision of the Council of Representatives related to 2 draft laws amending some provisions of law no. (78) for 2006 concerning insurance against unemployment, in addition to further discuss the report of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee concerning the draft law issuing Reform and Rehabilitation Institutions Law, associated with the royal decree no. (92) for 2007, and the bill proposal relating to the organization of the penal institutions.
