‘King’s democratic approach made Bahrain oasis of tolerance, co-existence’

Shura Council Chairman, Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, has stressed that thanks to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s reform and democratic approach, the kingdom has become a land of tolerance and an oasis of peace and co-existence for various social groups.
He considered the establishment of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Co-existence as an advanced step within HM the King's approach aimed at promoting the values and principles of peace, tolerance and co-existence.
In a statement marking the International Day for Tolerance, which is observed on November 16 every year, the Shura Council Chairman affirmed that Bahrain embodies the meanings of humanity, tolerance, coexistence and acceptance of the other, as well as interfaith dialogue, by embracing and sponsoring various institutions and civil organisations that represent various groups and segments, regardless of their religious or sectarian affiliations.
The Shura Chairman pointed out that the kingdom has always been, and will remain a basic partner in implementing peace plans in various countries, citing its contributions to renouncing violence and extremism, as well as support for rapprochement among religions and sects, noting that Bahrain has hosted multiple events and conferences calling for promoting rapprochement, harmony, tolerance and co-existence, as well as for denouncing hatred and sectarian conflicts.
He added that Bahrain is among the first countries to have ratified the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which, he said, consolidated the kingdom’s good reputation in this regard, reflected its rich history in respect for human rights, promotion of the values of tolerance and constant keenness to build relations based on respect and acceptance of the other.
The Shura Chairman pointed out that Bahrain embodies all values of love, co-existence, acceptance of the other and respect for sects and religious, noting that the kingdom has always been an oasis of tolerance, peace and harmony among its components.
He reiterated the Legislative Branch’s support for everything aimed at strengthening love and harmony among all social components, which will enhance the kingdom’s regional and global standing in the fields of tolerance and peaceful co-existence.
