Hon. Dr. Salah Ali Receives Hon. Stephanie Williams

Manama, August 24. (BNA) – Chairman of the Shura Council’s Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee Hon. Dr. Salah Ali today called for the need to be neutral and objective when conveying what has happened during the regetful incidents to international sides in order to ensure transparency and credibility, noting that briefing the world on the reality of events during international gatherings, meetings and conferences is a major duty that MPs have to undertake, especially amid the world’s reliance on satellite channels’ coverage.

Speaking as he received here today the US Acting Ambassador to the Kingdom Hon. Stephanie Williams, Hon. Dr. Salah Ali noted that the International Community should not make pre-judgements about the situation in the kingdom prior to the final report of the Royal Indepedent Commission of Inquiry (RICI) established by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa out of his keen desire to protect rights and safeguard the kingdom’s cultural achievements.

« The establishment of RICI was intended to protect the kingdom’s distinguished position in the world arena and secure a permanent solution to the recent crisis, » he said.

Regarding the September by-elections, Hon. Dr. Salah Ali called upon all segments of the Bahraini society to take part in them, stressing that voting is a constitutional means through which citizens can contribute to the nation-building march.

He also pointed out that the attempts being made to heal rifts caused by the recent regretful incidents should be backed, calling for the need to provide an opportunity for those efforts to succeed in order to strengthen national unity and consensus.

Regional and global developments, as well as issues of mutual concern were also spotlighted during the meeting.
