Shura Council's Foreign Affairs' Committee highlights Bahraini-French ties

The Head of the Shura Council's Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa stressed the importance of continuing efforts aimed to boost bilateral parliamentary cooperation relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the French Republic.

Dr. Shaikh Khalid Al Khalifa praised the efforts exerted by both legislative councils in the two friendly countries and the role of the committees of friendship citing coordination on various issues.

Dr. Shaikh Khalid Al Khalifa met on Wednesday French MP Michel Voisin the Deputy Chairperson of the Bahraini-French Friendship Society, member of the National Defence and Forces in the French Parliament and the accompanying delegation and praising the development and growth of legislative cooperation relations between the two friendly countries, especially as regards benefitting from previous experiences and expertise which could be done through the joint friendship and cooperation committee, affirming the Shura Council's support and follow up of the progress in parliamentary relations and its future with various countries.

Dr. Shaikh Khalid praised the supportive stances of the French Republic vis-à-vis the Kingdom of Bahrain, praising the regional role of France in spreading security and stability and extending helpful hands to all countries seeking to shun violence, extremism and terrorism. He also praised the Kingdom of Bahrain's huge efforts in overcoming the crisis thanks to the wisdom of His Majesty the King which has become an example to be followed as a peaceful, democratic path for surmounting crises.

Dr. Khalid Al Khalifa presented to the French parliamentary delegation an outline of the history and development of Bahrain's democratic process under the ambitious reform project initiated by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the role of the bicameral legislative authority (i.e. the Shura Council and House of Representatives) in accomplishing legislative and monitoring success throughout its three terms of sessions during which MPs and members of the Shura Council exerted remarkable efforts aimed to ensure more bills of law and proposals and to serve the interests of Bahrain and the welfare of its citizens .

The French MP Michel Voisin who is the Chairperson of the Bahraini-French Friendship Society expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Shura Council's chairman and members and to the joint parliamentary friendship committee for the efforts exerted in consolidating bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries and he praised the hospitable reception and applauded the Kingdom's democratic accomplishments in the short recent past which indicate the extent of awareness of the Bahraini people and the development of services provided to citizens. He considered the Shura Council as a council of wise people and the symbol of democracy, pointing out that the French delegation will defend and testify to the truth about the Kingdom of Bahrain.
