Manama, Sept. 19. (BNA) – The Shura Council's Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, led by Khalid Hussain Al Muskati, has lauded the diversity of the projects to be implemented by the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), as part of the GCC Development Fund, asserting development of the electricity transmission grid and the water distribution network will improve the kingdom's infrastructure and entitle it to meet all economic and service requirements, which will attract mega factories and companies.
During its meeting with the Minister in Charge of EWA Affairs Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza, EWA Chief Executive Officer Shaikh Nawaf bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa and a number of officials from EWA and the Financial Ministry, the panel appreciated the GCC initiative to fund such vital projects, which testifies to GCC countries' strong resolve to support the efforts of the Bahraini government and people to achieve higher growth rates, in line with the principles of solidarity and unity governing fraternal GCC relations.
Al Muskati also said that the panel discussed with the representatives of the government two draft laws on loan and guarantee agreements to develop the water supply network signed between the kingdom and both the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development and the Islamic Development Bank.
