Meeting No (7), November 21st , 2011 – Second Convening Period – Third Legislative Term
The Shura Council held its weekly session this morning under the Chairmanship of H.E Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh.
The Council ratified the minutes of previous meeting and notified regarding the incoming letters from the chairman of the Council of Representatives regarding: the amended unified law to combat drowning and compensation and precaution measures for GCC countries, the framework agreement for economic, trade, investment and technical cooperation between GCC countries and the Government of Malaysia, the International Convention No. (138) of 1973 concerning the minimum age for employment, approving joining the International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonization of Customs Procedures (Revised Kyoto Convention), as well as ratifying the Convention between the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Government of Turkmenistan on the avoidance of double taxation in regard to taxes on income and capital, which all referred to the foreign affairs, defense and national security committee.
The Council discussed a draft law regarding consumer protection and a draft law about protection of consumer, where there were many deliberations from various members of the Council, and approved referring further discussions to the next session.
