The Shura Council has agreed, at its weekly session today (Monday), chaired by H.E. the Chairman of the Council Mr. Ali Bin Saleh Al Saleh; on three draft laws that would enhance bilateral relations in economic and investment between the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Republics of Bulgaria and Austria.

The Shura Council issued a statement read by the Secretary-General H.E. Mr. Abdul Jalil Ibrahim Al-Tareef, on the occasion of Kingdom's celebrations of the National Environment Day, which falls on the fourth of February, with the theme of this year «sustainable consumption ... Way of life ». The Secretary-General expressed great pride for the undertaking of the wise leadership, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, where His Majesty always give directives toward preservation of the environment, habitat protection, and safeguarding of Marine Resources, and Natural Resources Development in order to preserve the health and lives of citizens, and their right to live in a healthy environment and to preserve the rights of generations to come.

The Shura Council valued highly the prominent role played by the government in this field under the chairmanship of HRH the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and the support of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and attribution to protect the environment and its safety. On this occasion the Shura praised the efforts of the Chairman of the Public commission for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment and Wildlife His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and his keenness for protecting the environment and preserve the integrity of ecosystems. The Council praised the environment activities under the patronage of Shaikh Abdulla, which is a milestone in the environmental work procession in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which have traditionally been celebrated under multi-themes that serve local environmental issues, and consistent with the issues raised internationally.

The Shura Council also praised the great role played by the Public Utilities and environment committee to examine bills dealing with environmental protection and defend its main elements and aspects of safety, survival and growth, stressing in this regard, that the Shura Council will spare no effort to enact more legislation and laws that would make the Kingdom of Bahrain a country that enjoys a clean environment, within the framework of concern for the interests of the country and its environment for current and future generations.

In the same context, the Council issued a statement on the occasion of Arab Women's Day, which falls in the first of February, extended its deepest congratulations and good wishes to the Bahraini women in particular, and Arab women in general, considering this annual event a moment to announce great appreciation of the role played by Arab women as the heart of Arab society in various fields.

The statement mentioned, "While we applaud the Arab women, and sacrifices for political rights, we highly appreciate the wise directives of the wise leadership, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which aims at enabling women by giving them all their rights, and in recognition and appreciation of the significant role played by women in the political, economic and social development in the Kingdom, and her contributions in various walks of life."

The Shura Council praised the great role played by the wife of HM the King Chairman of the Supreme Council for Women HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, through the support of Her Highness to the role of Bahraini women in the community, and strengthen their capacity to participate at all levels, stressing that the Council will continue its efforts to contribute to support Bahraini women, and offer her empowerment through the enactment of legislation and laws.

In addition, the Shura Council discussed a number of issues and draft laws in relation to the media, radio and Television Corporation, labour law, sign language as well as discussing approving a number of agreements in various fields between Bahrain and friendly countries.
