Meeting No (16), February 6th, 2012 – Second Convening Period – Third Legislative Term
The Shura Council held its weekly session no.(16) under the Chairmanship of H.E. Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh.
The Shura Council approved two draft laws ratifying the two agreements between the Government of Bahrain and the Government of Turkey, dealing with cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters, and about land transportation between the two countries.
The Council was notified regarding the incoming messages from the Chairman of the Council of Representatives HE Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Dhahrani concerning the following:
- A decree by law No. (35) for 2011 amending some provisions of the Trade Unions Act associated via Decree by law No. (33) for 2002.
- A draft law approving the amendment of some provisions of the agreement establishing International Monetary Fund.
- A draft law amending some provisions of the Criminal Procedures Law issued via Decree by law No. (46) for 2002, associated with the Decree No. (124) for 2011.
Then, the Council was briefed by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Dr. Hassan Abdullah Fakhro concerning the examination of clothing and fabrics before entering local markets in reply to the question by hon. Member Rabab Al Orayed.
Then, the Council discussed the report of the Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security Committee regarding the draft law to ratify the agreement between the Government of Bahrain and the Government of Turkey on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters. The Council voted approval of the draft law based on the views of the committee, where the final decision will be adopted during the next meeting.
The Council expressed its approval of the report of the Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security Committee regarding the draft law ratifying the agreement on International land Transport between the Government of Bahrain and the Government of Turkey. The agreement aims to facilitate international land transport for passengers and goods between the two countries, and through their territories by transit transport, where the final opinion regarding the draft law will be considered during the next session.
The Council deferred the discussion of the draft law regarding issuing a law for the reform and rehabilitation institutions, associated with the Royal Decree No. (92) for 2007, and the bill proposal concerning the organization of the penal institutions, to the next session.
