TWELVE key Shura Council posts were decided yesterday.
Four Committees Chairmen and three Vice-Chairmen were replaced.
Hon. Dalal Al Zayed was elected unopposed for the first time as the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee Chairman.
She replaced Hon. Mohammed Al Halwachi, who held the post for eight years.
Hon. Rabab Al Arrayed was elected unopposed as Vice-Chairman.
Hon. Dr Salah Abdulrahman was elected unopposed as the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee Chairman for the second consecutive year. He was earlier Parliament's Second Vice-Chairman.
Hon. Dr Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa was also re-elected as Committee Vice-Chairman for the second consecutive year.He was also the Committee Vice-Chairman from 2002 to 2006.
Financial and Economic Affairs Committee Chairman Hon. Khalid Al Maskati was re-elected unopposed for the sixth consecutive year.
Hon. Sayed Habib Hashim was elected unopposed as vice-chairman for the second year.
Hon. Abdulrahman Abdulsalam was elected unopposed as Services Committee Chairman for the first time to replace former Health Minister Hon. Dr Nada Haffadh.
Bahrain Mobility International President Hon. Muneera Bin Hindi was elected unopposed as Vice-Chairman, also for the first time.
Bahrain Red Crescent Society Secretary-General Hon. Sadiq Al Shehabi was elected unopposed as Public Utilities and Environment Affairs Committee Chairman to replace Hon. Faoud Al Haji.
They reached a deal to share the posts on a year on year off basis.
Hon. Juma Al Ka'abi was elected unopposed for the second consecutive year as the Committee's Vice-Chairman.
Ms Bin Hindi was elected Chairwoman of the Woman and Child Committee. She has been its Vice-Chairman for the last five years.
Ms Al Arrayed was elected as Committee's Vice-Chairman for the first time.
Meanwhile, four councillors were elected to the nine-member Executive Parliamentary Committee, which is responsible for the selection of MPs and councillors for foreign participations.
Hon. Ahmed Bahzad won his seat with 30 votes, Hon. Khalil Al Thawadi got 26 and Hon. Jameela Salman and Hon. Dr Aysha Al Mubarak each had 25 votes.
The Committee's President is Parliament Chairman H.E. Khalifa Al Dhahrani and will today see four MPs elected to complete its line-up.
Ten councillors were elected to prepare a draft reply to His Majesty King Hamad's speech at the opening of the National Assembly on Sunday. The members are led by Council Second vice-Chairman Hon. Dr Bahiya Al Jishi. They include Ms Bin Hindi, Dr Al Mubarak, Ms Al Arrayed, Mr Bahzad, Dr Haffadh, Mr. Al Haji, Mr. Abduljalil Al Oinati, Mr. Ibrahim Bashmi and Mr. Abdulrahman Al Jawahery.
