Manama, June 10 (BNA)— Shura Council First Deputy Chairman Hon. Jamal Mohammed Fakhro stressed today the importance of the recently-approved constitutional amendments in bringing about more balance and coordination between the Shura and Representatives Councils and boosting the role of the legislative power in achieving more democratic developments.
He was speaking at a meeting today between Members of the Shura Council and the visiting German Parliamentary Delegation from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Christian Social Union (CSU) parties, who were accompanied by German Ambassador to Bahrain , Hon. Sabine Taufmann.
The Shura Council Members presented the Delegation with a briefing on the legislative march in Bahrain in light of the recent constitutional amendments as well as the care accorded to the democratic experience.
Discussions also spotlighted women's participation in the parliamentary work, particularly in the Shura Council, and their contribution to the legislative process.
The Shura Council Members hailed the German Delegation's visit, describing it as an opportunity to further cement bilateral parliamentary cooperation.
