On the occasion of winning the Excellence Award for Electronic Government 2011 by the Council website, Dr. Al-Jishi hails the Kingdom’s achievements in the field of information Technology and the advanced standard reached by the Electronic Government

Her Excellency Dr. Bahiya Jawad Al-Jishi Second Deputy to the Shura Council Speaker hailed the achievements of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of electronic government and the specific excellence affirmed by Bahraini nationals working in this field, which enabled the Kingdom to occupy a leading position in the field of information technology and electronic government both regionally and internationally. She valued the efforts of His Excellency Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Commission For Information & Communications Technology, for His Excellency’s patronage of the activities of electronic government, and its efforts towards further electronic development of government institutions.

Her Excellency the Second Deputy to the Shura Council Speaker valued the services provided to the citizens by the electronic government, pointing out that these services have helped in streamlining procedures and transactions, and have established the Kingdoms leading position amongst the advanced nations in the field of information technology and the Utilization thereof to serve the public life of all citizens. She noted that this reflects the Kingdoms upkeep with the technological and technical developments in the world, especially since the people of Bahraini are known for their continuous efforts to enhance their know-how and technical expertise.

On the occasion of the Shura Council website winning the Excellence Award for Electronic Government in 2011, and during the Bahrain Forum for Electronic Government 2011 held under the Patronage of His Excellency Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Commission for Information & Communications Technology, Her Excellency, Dr. Bahiya Al-Jishi stated that the Shura Council has, through its efforts of the past years, contributed towards supporting the global trend to spread technical awareness and technological culture, reiterating the necessity of continuing this approach and spreading it even to the extent of its inclusion into school syllabuses, since familiarity with the requirements of the technical and technological advancement age necessitates the preparation of the emerging generations to deal with these new means and to provide them with the necessary knowledge to keep abreast with the progress movement related thereto.

On his part His Excellency Mr. Abdul Jaleel Ebrahim Al-Toraif, Secretary General of the Shura Council expressed thanks and appreciation to His Excellency Mr. Ali Saleh Al-Saleh, Shura Council Speaker for his support and follow-up of the Council’s website, pointing out that His Excellency’s encouragement of the path of development and modernization of the General Secretariat of the Council has had the greatest effect in achieving this high standard of expertise and skills reached by the personnel of Information Technology Division, and their sense of responsibility that enabled the website to win several local, Arab and regional awards.

His Excellency the Secretary General expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Information Technology Directorate, in particular, and other Directorates and Divisions of the General Secretariat in particular to provide the best for the service of the Council. It is worth mentioning that the Shura Council has, over the past period, won a number of awards for the website content, the last of which was the Arab Golden Chip Award won by the Council Website from the Judgment panel of the Arab Organization For Informatics & Communications as the best Arab project for Electronic Content.
