Shura Council Chairman H.E. Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh and Representatives Council Chairman H.E. Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani will lead the Kingdom's Parliamentary Delegation taking part in the 3rd World Conference of Speakers of Parliament organised in Geneva by the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) from 19 to 21 July. This global summit, focusing on democracy, the role of legislative institutions and their relationship with the United Nations, is themed "Parliaments in a world of crisis: securing global democratic accountability for the common good".
On this occasion, Shura and Representatives Councils' Chairmen praised such a significant meeting bringing together, every five years, Parliament speakers to voice their concerns and report the main challenges impeding democracy and development in their countries.
They also said that participants will exchange views and expertise in line with their common desire to upgrade democratic practices in their countries and boost the role of parliament in the decision-making process.
