We Should Promote National Initiatives, Says Shura Committee

The Shura Council’s Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee today called for the need to join hands in order to ensure the success of national dialogue and accord initiatives.

 The committee noted that all pending issues could be solved through logic and wisdom and not violence which engenders only more violence and escalations, urging all parties to exercise self-restraint and respond to dialogue calls in order to restore security and stability across the country.

"During their meeting today, members of the committee welcomed the dialogue initiative launched by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, because they said it was a sincere call for reconciliation between the citizens," said the committee Chairman Dr. Salah Ali, stressing the need to ensure the success of all appraisement efforts in order to get out of the current situation with the least losses.

Dr. Salah expressed his heartfelt condolences to families of the victims, praying Allah Almighty to rest their souls in eternal peace.

He also pointed out that HRH Crown Prince’s diagnosis of the current situation as the most critical in the kingdom’s history and call for dialogue between all parties testifies to the wise leadership’s keen desire to solve the crisis and listen to all groups.

"What is common between all citizens, Sunnis and Shi'ites, is their love and loyalty to the cherished land and keenness to protect national achievements," he also said, adding that those good intentions should be translates on the ground through responding positively to national dialogue initiatives.

He also confirmed that the committee decided to keep its meetings open and will spare no effort to help resolve the current situation.

In this context, he said that the committee praised the GCC supportive stances towards Bahrain and HRH Crown Prince's initiative.
