The Committee on Foreign Affairs , Defense and National Security at the Shura Council's expressed support for all steps taken by the GCC states under the guidance of their leaderships to develop trade between GCC and the world for the benefit and interest of the national economy.

The Committee had discussed at its meeting on Wednesday chaired by Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed Jamsheer the Committee's Chairman, draft law approving the amendment of Articles (8) and (18) of the Convention establishing the GCC customs World Customs Organization) for in 1950, accompanying the decree No. (84) for the year in 2009.

The bill has been approved after hearing explanations from the representatives of the Administration of Customs at Ministry of Interior on the content of the proposed amendments and the objectives that will contribute in the event of approval, the Committee decided, following the preparation of its final report on it. The amendment aimed at allowing customs and economic unions to join the Organization after the membership was limited to countries without organizations.
