Draft bills introduced in Parliament over the past four yeas and the amendments made to previous legislations, reflect enhanced economic transparency and promote consumer protection, the Chairman of the Upper House stated yesterday. Speaking during a meeting with Head of the Bahrain Consumer Protection Society Majid Al Sharaf, Shura Chairman H.E. Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh said that the legislations have been studied, proposed and raised to the Cabinet over the past four years aimed to protect the economic interests of consumers and prevent any violations.
The Chairman added that the Kingdom aims to further study the advances in consumer law and adapt these to Bahrain in order to ensure a more regulated relationship between merchants and the consumers.
H.E. Al Saleh expressed appreciation for the role played by NGOs in helping to promote a culture of consumer protection and draw attention to the rights of consumers.
