The Council has a general secretariat in charge of the Council's administrative, technical and services affairs. It is a technical and administrative body seeks to coordinate between the departments of the council to assist members performing all their Legislative functions. It is also the body which follows up and prepares all the meetings of the council's committees, and the meetings of the Bureau of the council. It is a body that passes on parliamentary and technical information to the members of the Council.
The General Secretariat seeks to recruit professionals of specialists and staff who have the ability to perform their duties in an administrative efficiency, in order to help out members to perform completely their parliamentary responsibilities.
The General Secretariat employs about one hundred and thirty-five employees, working in various departments, which come under Assistant General Secretariat for human resources, finance, and information, Assistance General Secretariat for parliamentary Affairs and Parliamentary Relations and Media Directorate. These key sectors have many administrative sections and units.
